International student’s perceptions/opinions of America and their adaptability to American Society
To Project Participant:
You are invited to take part in a research project conducted by Siyu Chen and Erin Ramirez, graduate students at
California State University, Los Angeles. In this study we hope to learn more about adaptation practices and
assimilation of International Students to American Culture and Society. You were selected to participate in this
study because you are an international student at California State University, Los Angeles. We hope that our
research will lead us to finding out better ways for International Students to adapt and assimilate to American
Culture and Society more easily.
In this study we will be asking you to fill out a survey form with basic information about yourself (Age, Country of
Origin, Sex etc.) Once that form is completed, we will be asking you to filling out the paper work and the survey
process should take no longer than twenty (20) minutes.
There are no expected risks for this study. However, there could be a potential risk of loss of confidentiality. For
our study, your name will not be used. Only gender, age, country of origin will be used to identity your answers to
our study.
Reports resulting from this study will not identify you as a participant. All information gathered in this study will
remain confidential and be given out only with your permission or as required by law. After read this consent letter,
we will protect your information confidentiality. Your name will not be written on transcriptions and the information
form you fill out will be kept secretly. No research materials will be kept together so that no one can see the answers
you provided us. Transcriptions and information sheets must be kept for a minimum of three (3) years after the study
is conducted. All information will be kept in the office of Melissa Broeckelman-Post, PhD.
